The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all guests in and around the pool or facility. This role requires constant vigilance, quick decision-making, and the ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations. The Lifeguard also helps maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
This is a part-time, seasonal position running May through September, averaging 34–36 hours per week, with typical 6–7 hour shifts.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor pool activities and enforce all safety rules and facility policies
- Maintain constant surveillance of swimmers and surrounding areas
- Identify and prevent potentially hazardous situations
- Respond immediately and appropriately to emergencies, including water rescues and first aid
- Administer CPR, AED, and other lifesaving measures as needed
- Complete incident and accident reports accurately and promptly
- Conduct routine safety checks of pool equipment and surrounding areas
- Assist with pool setup, cleanliness, and general facility upkeep
- Provide excellent customer service and answer guest questions professionally
Qualifications
- Current Lifeguard certification
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications
- Strong swimming skills and physical stamina
- Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively in high-pressure situations
- Must have a valid driver’s license
